In a notable development, TREAT-NMD Alliance Ltd., a registered charity, has introduced a revised governance framework. This update also includes TREAT-NMD Service Ltd., its wholly owned business arm. The changes are driven by the organisation’s charitable status, necessitating careful oversight.
Under the new setup, TREAT-NMD Alliance Ltd. is now overseen by a dedicated Board of Trustees, responsible for shaping and closely monitoring the charity’s strategic goals. Simultaneously, TREAT-NMD Service Ltd. operates with a Board of Directors, reflecting the responsibilities of its charitable counterpart, and reports directly to the Board of Trustees.
At the core of this transformation is the Neuromuscular Disease Executive Advisory Committee (NMDAC). Comprising clinicians, researchers, patients, and other experts elected by the organization’s members, this committee plays a crucial role. Their task is to conduct a thorough assessment of the neuromuscular disease landscape, identifying priority areas for focused efforts. These identified areas will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees, guiding the strategic direction of TREAT-NMD Alliance Ltd.
